The low-profile AT4022 omnidirectional condenser recording mic is outstanding for piano, acoustic guitar, and other acoustic instruments. With a flat, extended frequency response and wide dynamic range ideal for critical studio and live applications, the AT4022 handles high SPLs with ease. The microphone’s omnidirectional polar pattern preserves the “sound” of the recording location, delivers flat response and freedom from proximity effect. Its low-mass diaphragm improves transient response and reduces handling/mechanical noise transfer.

Audio-Technica AT4021 And Audio-Technica AT4022: More Transparent Pencil Mics At Summer NAMM 2008 (01:16)
Audio-Technica expands their 40 Series mics with a couple new pencils, the Audio-Technica AT4021 and the Audio-Technica AT4022. Willing to admit the coloration audible with their AT4041 and AT4051 mics, the engineers down at AT decided to introduce a set of pencils with a more neutral sound. These pencil condensers should be a hit everywhere, but especially in Switzerland. In your face, Switzerland! I tell you, it's like taking candy from a baby -- a baby where a lot of rich people go to ski.
